Kevin is a composer and educator based in the New York City area (Ridgewood, NJ). He has been commissioned and performed by groups such as the Salome Chamber Orchestra, Sweet Plantain String Quartet, Christopher Jennings, Kate Amrine, and the Third Wheel Trio. He has also worked in film and was the composer for the award winning documentary, "White Cane and Wheels.”
As an educator, Kevin has been an instructor at the Lucy Moses School at the Kaufman Center where he taught Composition and Recording. He was commissioned by the Poly Prep Country Day School in New York to complete a trilogy of vocal works based on text by Walt Whitman, and has also been the judge for the University of Indianapolis Young Composer's Contest.
His works are often expressions of the ensemble, rather than any strict musical genre. Compositions are influenced by rock, jazz and film scores, as much as the ‘sound mass’ composers of the sixties and ‘post-minimalists’ eighties and nineties.
Kevin received a Bachelor in Music in Composition from Indiana University, Bloomington, studying under Sven-David Sandström and Don Freund. Kevin continued with graduate studies in Film Scoring and Music Technology at New York University, and additional study with Keith Fitch.
Kevin is an active French hornist, having played with the Brooklyn Symphony and giving lecture-recitals with his wife, pianist Bethany Rose. Kevin is dedicated to the research and study of the music of John Cage.
Outside of music, Kevin has spent his “professional” career as a retailer, product designer, and consultant in luxury goods and interior design. He lives in Ridgewood, New Jersey with his wife, two wonderful kids, and two chatty rescue cats.
